Amana Portable Air Conditioner/Heater, do I need to use the vent when operating the heater?

This Beau id is Amana AP125HD, no where in the owner's manual does it say whether or not I have to use the exhaust vents while operating the heating portion, it only states that I need to use the exhaust vent when operating in Air Conditioner modus operandi.

With all section they must be vented to exhaust the heat while in the air condition mode, a extensible dryer hose usually comes with the unit and there is a mooring at the bottom in the rear.

Amana SXS Freezer gave up the ghost - Appliance Repair Forum

I have an Amana SxS about 8 years old and the freezer seems to have gone out (fridge side *seems* to be doing ok). All lights are on, and removing the back panels reveals that the fan is unceasing and motile air and there is no frost so no ice over delinquent. About every five minutes I can be told something punt on and start constant (compressor?) but then it shuts off after about 15 seconds. From looking through the threads on this forum it looks like maybe a compressor stew? How do I grasp what part to change? thanks!
